Amy Rifkind is co-chair of the firm’s real estate practice. She has a broad commercial real estate practice, with a particular focus on public-private partnerships (federal and local) and real estate development. She regularly handles purchases, dispositions, leases, ground leases and build-to-suits as well as loans for developers, nonprofit organizations and corporations.

Rifkind also handles transactions for pro bono clients, including several DC charter schools and nonprofit organizations.

Selected Representative Transactions

  • Washington DC-based developer in the acquisition of multiple sites in SE Washington, DC, near the baseball stadium, the sale of a commercial property on H Street in NE Washington, DC and the sale of multiple residential buildings in Washington, DC.
  • New York-based real estate fund with respect to a variety of projects including (i) the acquisition of 20 buildings and land for redevelopment in Tysons Corner, VA (ii) the sale of a portion of the recently acquired Tysons Corner portfolio, (iii) a joint venture for the development of an apartment complex in Silver Spring, MD.
  • Developer of the 575,000 square foot National Cancer Institute building in Rockville, MD and the bond financing for the project.
  • Owner in negotiating a multi-building complex of approximately 900,000 square feet in Alexandria, VA lease extensions in connection with BRAC relocations.
  • Real estate investment company in multiple loans including a $655-million loan secured by 260 properties in 38 states and a $620-million loan secured by 82 properties in 40 states.
  • Major financial institution in its joint venture with a third-party investor and the acquisition of a senior loan participation related to a defaulted construction loan.
