Marianne Ajemian

Company:

Nutter McClennen & Fish

Title: Chair, Real Estate Department/Boston

First woman to serve on Nutter Executive Committee

Represented Tufts University

Friends and colleagues call Marianne Ajemian a unicorn because they find her to be unique: intelligent, creative and ethical. They also describe her as kind and empathetic, along with someone who puts herself into the shoes of her clients and offers the best possible advice during some of the most stressful times in the business.

Ajemian has been a partner of Nutter for more than 20 years and represents clients locally and nationally in complex transactional matters. Ajemian’s career at Nutter has been a series of firsts. She was the first woman partner in the firm’s real estate and finance department (a group she now leads); the first woman to serve on the firm’s practice development committee and first woman to chair that committee; and the first woman to serve on the firm’s executive committee. Given the firm’s 139-year history, these achievements are all the more significant.

Ajemian has represented a wide variety of well-respected clients (such as National Development, Lincoln Property Company, Phoenix Property Company, Tedeschi Food Shops, M&T Bank, Connecticut General Life Insurance Company, BayNorth Capital, Meditrust, Lawrence/Methuen Properties, Santander Bank, Bank of America, TD Bank, UDR, Global Partners, Hallmark Health System and Tufts University) in all aspects of commercial real estate matters.

Ajemian advises clients on real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, joint ventures and financing transactions. She has significant expertise with mixed-use and transit-oriented developments, as well as with representing clients in the health care and senior housing industries. She also has extensive experience in the negotiation, supervision and management of complex portfolio transactions and has served as lead transactional counsel for various publicly held entities.

These are some of the reasons that we named Ajemian to our Boston & New England grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.

About Lisa McDuffie

Lisa McDuffie arrives at ConnectCRE via REALTOR® world, where she served for nearly two decades as communications director for one of the nation’s largest REALTOR® organizations. She supported two membership-elected presidents who were commercial real estate practitioners, and managed the communications initiatives of the organization’s commercial special interest group. When not following the latest commercial real estate news, Lisa is zeroed in on her charismatic off-the-track thoroughbred as she makes the transition from an utterly failed racehorse to a lovely show hunter.
