Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson

Integral advisor on projects that have transformed the New York City skyline

Clients have included Brookfield and Blackstone

Has played a role in developing the real estate department's knowledge management program

As a partner in Fried Frank’s real estate department, Laurinda Martins is widely-considered a go-to advisor on complex and sophisticated real estate transactions that have had a tremendous impact throughout New York. She is an integral advisor on projects that have transformed the New York City skyline, including most recently representing Brookfield in various financings, acquisitions, and ventures for its projects at Manhattan West, 5 World Trade Center, and other major developments throughout the city.

In addition, Martins has recently worked on several large construction financings for residential and office properties nationwide. For example, she represented Blackstone in the financing of an approximately US$1.6-billion portfolio of 19 properties located across the US.

These are some of the reasons that we named Martins to our New York & Tri-State grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.

Along with her work on behalf of her clients, Martins is committed to mentoring the next generation of attorneys and supporting women in the real estate and legal communities. She is involved with the real estate department’s various associate onboarding, training, and development initiatives to support attorney career growth, and has played a role in developing the department’s knowledge management program.

Laurinda is also a member of Fried Frank’s “Morale Squad,” an employee outreach and charity group, established during a department partner’s retreat. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the workplace, the squad developed new initiatives to keep the department, particularly associates, connected while working remotely. Their initiatives have helped build and strengthen workplace relationships, provide access to meaningful mental health and wellness resources, and offer social activities to reduce feelings of isolation and disconnectedness.

Additionally, Martins is a member of Fried Frank’s Women in Real Estate group, whose vision is to bring together women real estate professionals to foster meaningful relationships across seniority levels, provide practical professional advice, and deliver content-driven networking opportunities.
