Justin Newman

Experienced with both real estate transactions and litigation, Thompson Coburn partner Justin Newman uses a hybrid approach in representing purchasers, sellers, landlords, tenants, owners, operators, lenders and borrowers in real estate matters. His unique blend of experience helps his clients approach their matters from a wider perspective. 

Typically, Newman will counsel on the entire lifecycle of a deal – from closing to financing, refinancing and enforcement actions, if necessary. 

Based in Chicago, Newman enjoys working on real estate because of its tangible and visual nature. He likes seeing the results of his work translate into new buildings and developments and, ultimately, new business opportunities for his clients. Although Newman represents clients operating in a diverse group of industry sectors, he has particular experience in healthcare lending and medical cannabis. 

Newman understands the importance of providing exceptional legal counsel to clients but also that the standard legal answer is not always the most efficient one. He approaches client service by being extremely responsive and practical. He is equally interested in getting to the root of the business issues and advancing his clients’ interests as quickly, zealously and seamlessly as possible.
