Since assuming the position of managing director in 2013, Cindy Simpson has led Gensler’s Dallas office through a time of explosive growth. The Dallas office is now one of the largest in the region and firm, with 206 employees. Under her guidance, the office has grown in diversity and in areas of expertise, adding strategic hires in aviation, hospitality and education. Gensler Dallas was twice named to the Dallas Morning News’ Top 100 Places to Work list.

Since her appointment to the firmwide Client Relationships Management Committee in 2012, she has worked to advocate for and strengthen client partnerships across the firm, advancing through several regional and firmwide leadership positions. In 2018, she was appointed to the Client Relationships Leadership Development Committee and continues to be an instrumental part of a core team that sets the standard for Gensler’s policies, collaborative culture and trusted reputation.

Simpson’s passion for design and commitment to cultivating strong client and peer relationships ultimately led to her appointment as co-regional managing director in January 2020 for Gensler’s South Central Region, comprised of offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio. She has also held key roles on Gensler’s board of directors since 2018.

Answering the call to address racial disparities within the industry and our communities, Simpson formed the South Central Regional Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The organization focuses on implementing key strategies to provide more educational opportunities for Black and minority students, as well as offer more support for Black colleagues to achieve their career goals, and to increase racial diversity within the firm.

In 2020, Gensler’s Dallas office completed the renovation of Fair Park’s Hall of State. Additional high-profile projects completed under Simpson’s leadership include the AT&T Discovery District, Dallas Cowboys headquarters at The Star, 400 Record Repositioning, Hilti’s North American headquarters and ExxonMobil’s 385-acre campus. Under Simpson’s guidance, Gensler’s South Central Region received more than 35 awards and recognitions on a regional and national level in 2020.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Simpson as one of the Texas 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners.
