Demonstrates excellence in the fields of private equity/energy investing and commercial real estate

Committed to mentoring and promoting diverse, young professionals such as herself

Board member of Habitat for Humanity

Principal and CIO with Himmel + Meringoff Properties, Andrea Himmel has demonstrated excellence in the fields of private equity/energy investing and commercial real estate. In 2018, for example, she founded a private equity fund called Revere that subsequently raised $6 million to buy oil royalties in Southwest Texas. A year later, she helped sell the fund’s assets for $18 million, which generated sizeable returns for her and her investors. Parlaying the success of Revere’s high returns, Andrea expanded the company into a 25-person firm based in Houston. In 2019, Revere raised $300 million from hedge fund manager Elliott Management.

On the commercial real estate side, Himmel in 2019 sourced and led the $90-million, off-market acquisition of 1601 Bronxdale Ave., a 335,000-square-foot, last-mile warehouse property in the Parkchester section of the Bronx. The property sits on one of four new subway/commuter train stations that the MTA and Metro-North are developing in the Bronx, offering a 15-minute commute to Penn Station.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Himmel as one of the New York 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

As a gay female leader in real estate, Himmel is passionate about mentoring and promoting a group of diverse, young professionals such as herself – and helping them overcome the many challenges that unfortunately continue to stand in the way of their success. She does this by advising classes of CUNY and NYU students, mentoring and sponsoring students through a nonprofit called Project Destined, and working directly on the Real Estate Board of New York’s Diversity Committee.

She further inspires interest in and celebrates New York City’s rich history by leading groups of real estate owners and professionals each week on walking tours accompanied by a NYC historian of landmarks. Himmel melds her passion for real estate and philanthropy as a board member of Habitat for Humanity, in which she advocates for equality and safety in housing for all New Yorkers.
