Alex Lopatynsky

Alex Lopatynsky, AIA is principal and managing director of the architecture and design firm Cooper Carry’s New York office. In this role, she leads the firm’s growth in the Northeast and applies her more than 30 years of architecture experience to oversee creative and complex projects that span multiple building types and design disciplines.  

Lopatynsky’s scope of expertise is broad, with a demonstrated history of designing viable hospitality, mixed-use and retail destinations as well as corporate and educational environments. She pulls from her varied design background and applies an inventive approach that leads to the creation of spaces that are not only beautiful, but also serve as destinations that bring people together and benefit communities — emblematic of the firm’s goal of connecting people to place.  

With Lopatynsky’s leadership, Cooper Carry has directed the design of several projects both in the New York area and nationally in a variety of commercial real estate sectors. One of the firm’s latest projects is the redesign of the Eldred Preserve, a 600-acre resort located in the hamlet of Eldred, just two hours north of New York City. The Eldred Preserve is set to emerge as the preeminent hospitality space in the Catskills, with the destination specifically tailored to hosting weddings and other special events.  

Over the past three years, Cooper Carry’s New York office has doubled its employee headcount. Lopatysnky led the hiring process, strategically recruiting a diverse workforce with varied experience and strengths to help support the firm’s multiple design focuses.
