Jamestown

VP of sustainability and social responsibility at Jamestown

Leads initiatives through the Jamestown Green program and the Jamestown Charitable Foundation

Common presenter at industry forums

Since 2012, Becca Rushin has supported the launch and growth of a sustainability and corporate social responsibility program for Jamestown, a vertically integrated real estate investment firm. She has done this as the only full-time sustainability team member, which has required strategic collaboration with many of colleagues from other departments.

Rushin’s work has institutionalized environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices at Jamestown. Her interdisciplinary background and positive attitude give her the unique ability to interface seamlessly with many different stakeholders.

In a typical day, Rushin pivots with ease from strategic planning (such as the evaluation of portfolio-wide ESG targets), to technical work (such as energy analytics and property-level efficiency projects), to social work (such as speaking with beneficiaries and planning volunteer events for the Jamestown Charitable Foundation). She is also a common presenter at industry forums and can be counted on to share a candid perspective helpful to those that are just starting their ESG journeys.

These are just a few reasons we chose Rushin as one of the Atlanta/Southeast 2021 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fifth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Prior to joining Connect, Paul was Managing Editor for both Real Estate Forum and GlobeSt.com at American Lawyer Media, where he oversaw operations at both publications while also producing daily news and feature-length articles. His tenure in B2B publishing stretches back into the print era, and he has served as Editor in Chief on four national trade publications. Since 1999, Paul has volunteered as the newsletter editor of passenger rail advocacy groups (one national, one local).
