Founding board member, Real Estate Network Empowering Women

Sheri Thompson is EVP and FHA finance group head at Walker & Dunlop, based in the company’s Bethesda, MD headquarters. She oversees all aspects of one of the nation’s top 5 (2020) multifamily lending through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

With more than 25 years of experience working within the commercial mortgage banking industry, Thompson is well known for her deep insight, values, integrity, and creativity. She keeps both the finer details and broader picture in focus when working on complex transactions and always invites perspectives other than her own.

As a leader, Thompson is described as collaborative and open, and strengthens her team daily through openness and trust. She is a role model and mentor to many and is actively involved in industry affinity groups for women in CRE, military families, and affordable housing. Colleagues say Thompson is passionate about building meaningful relationships and supporting others, which differentiates her and is making a lasting impact on everyone she interacts with.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Thompson as one of the Washington, DC 2021 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect CRE’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
